Hi ya'll, this is De-ja. Me and my mom decided to start this blog to show everyone what I do all day, AT HOME!
I don't go to a regular school, but I still am in the public school system. As you can see from the picture....that is my 'classroom' its located in my kitchen lol.
I got everything sent to me which was pretty cool!! The computer, the printer, and all the text books and my moms teacher books, that she LOOVES, something about that control I guess lol.
I'm about to take you through my day, then the days following will just to show you what I did THAT day.
My mom is having a stressful time with my curriculum now, but says sooner or later we'll fall in and everything won't be so crazy, she has to plan my days out before hand, but she does it that morning lol. So while I work on one thing, shes getting the next subject ready.
So here is the jist, lol
It starts out kinda like this I wake up from my bed and sit for about 2 minutes and get my self together then i take a shower and stuff then i go down stairs and look at gma (the news). while my dad gets the kids ready and my mom sleeps in and tells us to keep it down but we wake her up anyway. When everyone leaves my mom gets up looking a mess and i eat. while i eat she gets her coffe and plans my first lesson.
My first lesson is always algebra, the hardest. i have many subjects. algebra, language,vocabulary,literature,history,science,art,music,gym,and other stuff that my mom does not count.
I have problems like:
2n +3 =155,
9m=81,
7x<28
...and stuff like that then i put it all that i learned into a test called an assessment and it gives me my scorre i have to do it daily for every subject. I have to get higher than a 80 the assessments are like 10 questions long if that.And as soon i submit it goes straight to my teacher.
oh and i have too do more that 5 to 6 hours a day because at the end of the year i needed to do more than 900 hours or i fail the 7th grade.
around 1 o`clock i eat my lunch and play with my puppy.While my mom gets on facebook .when i am ready she gets like my last three lesson but sometimes my last three lesson are ready.BUT MY MOM cleans up when i am doing my lesson and feeds the dog.
Sometimes i get to do my lessons outside,i get to paint and use the microscope they sent me, (haven't used it yet, but I can't wait).
When I'm all done with my lessons, my mom checks my work using her teacher guides. Then she logs in on my assessments and fills in a couple answers to show that I mastered that lesson. Then she logs my attendence, that has to be logged everyday BY 10pm so I can put off my work until later in the day as long as I get logged in before 10. If I put a subject off one day it moves over in my schedule for the next day. Sometimes my daily work takes me only 4.5 hours, others it takes me nearly 6 hours, which is fine. She can type my time in for one subject and I'll be counted as present that day lol.
when its all done, its usually time to go get my brothers and sister from school, I go with mom, so I can see how my baby sister did in preschool that day, shes not taking to it very well, and does not like it. My brothers enjoy school.
After that we walk home, and rush around to help them with homework or whatever, then my mom gets ready for work. She leaves around 5 and gets home after we all are in bed.
Today was a short day, I had to mainly do my assessments for my units, which was like a test to see what I learned since I started. I passed them all!!!
I have to start reading "The Outsiders" tomorrow, so when we picked up the kids from school I went to the library and checked it out. We have to take the puppy to the vet tomorrow, so my mom will come home from work and get a couple lessons ready for me to take with us, I have to start reading that so I know that will be one thing I'll be taking.
a couple times a week I have to join a chat room that is called Elluminate, where I have to put on my headset and can listen to the teacher and other students, and join in, lol they have a little button I can click and raise my hand and I get called on to speak so everyone can hear me. So far I have chatted a little bit with my other classmates. But its just like a tutoring lesson I guess, or the teacher explains things and we can all join in on, its pretty cool.
Mom has them to.
All in all, i really like homeschooling, its a bit crazy now, but hopefully we'll get better at organizing everything soon.
